Features

  1. Build
  2. Simulate
  3. Measure
  4. Troubleshoot

Build

Build electrical systems from the ground up.

Start with a blank workspace. Place the components, draw the conductors, make the connections, and build the circuit yourself. From basic electrical fundamentals to three-phase power and motor controls, TradeBuilt gives you an open workspace to put electrical theory into practice.

  • Build AC and DC, single-phase, split-phase, and three-phase systems
  • Work with power sources, transformers, wiring, grounding, protection, switches, relays, contactors, controls, motors, loads, receptacles, and more
  • Build everything from basic series and parallel circuits to transformer systems, motor controls, switching logic, and multi-phase circuits
  • Energize what you build and see the system respond to the connections you made

Simulate

A simulation engine built to understand the circuit, not just animate it.

Behind every connection is a live electrical solver calculating how the system you built actually behaves. Change the wiring, source, load, control, operating condition, or fault and the electrical conditions change with it.

  • Voltage, current, resistance, power, impedance, reactance, power factor, and phase relationships are calculated from the circuit
  • Build and explore AC and DC systems including single-phase, split-phase, wye, delta, and high-leg delta power
  • Transformers respond to turns ratio, loading, taps, grounding, faults, and reflected impedance
  • Motors respond to starting current, phase sequence, and locked-rotor conditions, with simplified phase-loss and reduced-voltage behavior
  • Switches and pushbuttons are operated by hand, while relay, contactor, and timer coils operate their contacts and interlocks from the control circuit you wire
  • Breakers, fuses, and GFCIs respond to the electrical conditions they actually see

Measure

Real instruments. Readings from the circuit you actually built.

Testing is part of the learning process. Take instruments out of the virtual tool bag, place them on the circuit, and use the measurements to understand what is happening. The readings aren’t predetermined, they come directly from the circuit being solved.

  • Measure AC and DC voltage, AC current, resistance, and capacitance with the digital multimeter
  • Clamp a conductor to measure current and capture motor inrush
  • Check energized conductors and equipment with the non-contact voltage tester
  • Test receptacle wiring and GFCI operation with the plug-in receptacle tester
  • Change the circuit and the measurements change with it

Troubleshoot

Break it on purpose. Find it with a meter.

Turn a working circuit into a troubleshooting problem. Introduce faults directly into components, energize the system, observe what changed, take measurements, isolate the problem, and diagnose the fault from the circuit’s behavior.

  • Create open, shorted, loose, and high-resistance conditions
  • Troubleshoot ground faults, winding faults, weak capacitors, locked rotors, and failed coils
  • Diagnose welded, stuck, open, and high-resistance switching contacts
  • Create transformer primary, secondary, and grounding faults
  • Watch protection respond to the electrical conditions created by the fault

What you can build

From a single phase lamp to three phase controls

AC, DC and three-phase

120 V, 240 V and 120/240 V split-phase, 208Y/120 and 480Y/277 wye, 240 V delta and high-leg delta, DC batteries and more.

Switching and control

Switches, pushbuttons and E-stops, contactors, control relays, timers and more. Build a start/stop circuit with a seal-in.

Motors and loads

Lamps, resistors, fans, capacitors, heating elements, a three-phase motor whose rotation follows the phase sequence, and more. Swap two leads and it reverses.

Protection

Breakers, fast-acting and time-delay fuses, disconnects, GFCI receptacles and more, all coordinating and clearing faults.

Grounding and bonding

Earth and equipment grounds, wire nuts, terminal blocks and more. Leave a frame unbonded and a fault leaves it live; bond it and the breaker clears.

Mark it up and keep it

Labels, arrows, highlights, comment boxes, notes on the print and more. Save your circuits to your account and pick them up on another device.

For individuals

Master the Skills Build the Future

Electrical knowledge becomes valuable when you can apply it. TradeBuilt gives you the freedom to build, energize, measure, test, and troubleshoot electrical circuits on your own time, turning concepts into practical understanding through hands-on experience.

  • Develop a deeper understanding

Go beyond memorizing formulas and diagrams. Build circuits, take measurements, change conditions, and observe how the system responds. See electrical principles in action and develop an understanding of not only what happens, but why.

  • Build confidence through practice

Real proficiency comes from repetition. Rebuild circuits, explore different conditions, diagnose faults, correct mistakes, and practice as often as you need. Develop your skills at your own pace without waiting for access to a classroom, lab, or jobsite.

  • Your electrical bench, always available

Practice when and where it works for you. There is no equipment to set up, no components to replace, and no lab schedule to work around. Open TradeBuilt on your laptop or tablet, continue where you left off, and make every session an opportunity to improve.

Bring hands-on electrical learning to every student.

Extend practical training beyond the physical lab. TradeBuilt gives instructors the tools to teach through interactive circuits, assign practical work, create troubleshooting scenarios, and give every student a workspace where electrical concepts can be built, tested, measured, and understood.

  • Teach by doing

Move beyond diagrams, presentations, and theory alone. Build circuits with your class, energize them, demonstrate electrical behavior, introduce faults, and let students interact with the same concepts themselves. Turn lessons into experiences students can see, test, and understand.

  • Turn assignments into practical work

Create interactive assignments that require students to build, measure, test, and troubleshoot, not simply select an answer. Give students opportunities to apply what they have learned while developing the reasoning and diagnostic skills demanded in the field.

  • See learning as it happens

Instructor dashboards bring coursework and student activity together in one place. Track progress, manage assignments, review student work, and gain greater visibility into how students are progressing, not just whether they submitted an answer.

  • Create once. Teach the entire room.

Build a circuit or troubleshooting scenario and push it directly to student screens. Every student starts with the same system, allowing the instructor to demonstrate a concept, introduce a problem, and turn the entire classroom into an interactive electrical lab.

  • Practice from home

Students can continue practicing beyond scheduled lab hours using the same workspace, instruments, circuits, and learning environment. The lesson does not have to end when the physical lab closes.
